Rescue Me ID: 16-03-26-00303Priya (female)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Priya is subsidized by a friend lowering her fee to $20. Priya arrived almost 2 years ago. She is the cat that never receives a second glance, that never receives an inquiry, that is never wanted. She is a young regal tuxedo girl. Priya was surviving on the streets of Atlanta with obvious unfriendly interactions from people/animals prior to her capture(with 3 kittens) and arrival at our shelter in May 2014. A compassionate local resident living part time in Atlanta asked that we give her a chance. Her fear was overwhelming of us and initially of the other cats. Priya seemed to live in terror for the next episode that would threaten her ... (Read More)safety. Trusting and feeling secure were not part of Priya's history. In time she would be able to endure and then accept the kindness extended to her by people and the friendship extended by the cats. (She can be seen grooming Danny in a private moment ). She is growing in confidence and has begun to seek the attention of some of our visitors. Life was not kind to Priya for the first year of her life but two years among friends is giving her the ability to enjoy attention and reciprocate with mutual affection. She is not going to run to visitors looking for a relationship. Like other cats of her background, she will need to first acclimate to a home and then in her time, she will seek the attention of the person who becomes part of her life. Priya has a video at: https://www.facebook.com/548822128495391/videos/vb.548822128495391/1068611633183102/?type=3&theater. She is spayed, fully vaccinated and negative for the cat diseases of FIV & FeLV. We have an approval process to ensure our residents are going into safe and appropriate homes. The initiating form is at the shelter and also can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/548822128495391/photos/a.984873858223547.1073741865.548822128495391/1048365778541021/?type=3&theater. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a 'No kill' shelter which provides quality care, spay/neuter-all vaccines-deworming-vet exam-standard disease testing and for dogs-monthly prevention heart worm treatment. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquishment. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4. Contact or visit CSHS, 4823 Helen Hwy. 75N, Sautee, GA 30571, 706-865-4135. The shelter is located 3 miles south of the alpine town of Helen in the NE mountains. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-12-30-00724Chichy (male)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Lets be honest, I got into more than I can handle. I don't have the funds or the proper house for this cat. :) Chichy was a sick kitten who was intended to be returned to his home once he was better, but he ended up being an indoor cat. This house also has small dogs, which is where one issue comes in. Chichy is young and loves to play, an 11year old chihuahua is not a good playmate. Nor an eight or four year old, as they are all fairly low energy and calm animals. He's simply too big and rough for them! Issue two, I'm allergic to cats. Not sniffle and sneeze allergic, skin contact rash out allergic. Adult male cat, he sprays. I can't ... (Read More)afford to neuter him myself. I can't afford the grooming he needs to keep the matts out of his hair. I can admit this, I can't do what he needs done. Cats require a slow introduction, he isn't a lap cat, and mostly enjoys to sit on top of a fridge or any other hard cool surface. Sinks are a big plus in his book. If you can help give Chichy a new home, PLEASE let me know. I do not own the house him and myself lives in and I really don't want to hand him over to a shelter where he may be put down. I sincerely regret that he doesn't have a home better suited for his needs, but I'm hoping someone out there can help him. (Less)
