Unfortunately I find myself with the challenge of potentially finding a new home for Abby, and don't know where to turn for advice. She is a 13 year old pure bred Maine Coon Cat Abby is not an easy cat. For most of her life she has had the potential to be aggressive toward strangers and/or visitors to the house. This was never too big a problem as she lived alone with me in the house for her first 11 years. She has always trusted me and has been affectionate with me, in an aloof kind of feline way. But when my new wife moved into the house 2 years ago, it became more complicated. My wife has become very afraid of the cat, which has ... (Read More)been exacerbated by recent aggressive behavior by Abby. Here's my dilemma: I hate having to find a new home for the cat, and am not even sure it will be possible based of her particular challenges. At the same time it is not fair for my wife to live in fear in her own home. Abby would do well in a quiet home of just 1 or 2 people, and she is not suited for a first time cat owner. Instead she needs to be in the home of someone who understands cats moods, and who knows when to offer affection and when to leave them alone, someone who will be patient in earning her trust instead of forcing themselves on her too quickly. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I can offer much more information and insight into Abby's personality. (Less)
