Animal ID: TinselTinsel (female)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! This chic 3-year old Maine Coon mix in a little black dress hails from the east coast, yet she embodies all of the style and glamour of Tinseltown in one fantastic feline package. Tinsel is a sweet young lady with a stunning, medium-length black coat, big fluffy feet that have a hint of brown undertones, and big round eyes highlighted with just a splash of green. When she sits tall with her tail wrapped delicately around her feet, she is stunningly beautiful. As gorgeous as Tinsel is, she is a very down-to-earth girl. Tinsel is extremely sweet, playful, and a little silly. She loves pets, especially on her head ... (Read More)and neck, and will happily sit next to her person making biscuits on a nice fluffy blanket or plush cat bed. She enjoys interactive play with a wand toy, and will toss around her toy mice and crinkle ball when playing alone. During playtime, she will flop over hard and wiggle around on her back near her human, and even enjoys a little belly rub. She also likes a good brushing to keep her stylish coat red carpet ready. Tinsel is a shy girl at first and will take a few weeks to adjust to her new home and feel safe. She will need a special family who will be patient with her and help her to get used to her new surroundings. While she is settling in, she enjoys her new humans' company and appreciates pets, even in her hiding spot. Offering a few treats, tuna juice, or wet food while you sit with her will help her know that things will be OK. Tinsel would adjust most quickly and be happiest in a quiet home with just her humans as her best pals. She grew up with other kitties and gets along with them. If there is another cat in the home, she would do best with a very laid back kitty friend that isn't too rambunctious or bossy. Tinsel is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. She is litter box trained and is quite dedicated to assuring every deposit is thoroughly buried, sometimes resulting in well-sculpted piles of litter to one side in the box. The builders of the Great Pyramids have nothing on her! A large, uncovered box is recommended so as not to squelch her creative architectural spirit. Tinsel is located in Reston, VA. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php . You may also e-mail us at info@omcrescue.org if you have any questions or would like to learn more about Tinsel. (Less)

Animal ID: SquirrelSquirrel (female)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Squirrel is a 2-year old Maine Coon mix with a gorgeous brown tabby coat and whiskers a mile long! Squirrel was brought into rescue from a shelter in Southern Maryland in October, and she was not entirely certain that humans were a good thing. With several months in the loving care of her foster family, Squirrel is learning that humans can be pretty nice and she is now ready to become part of a family of her very own. Squirrel is an active girl who likes to explore and find her own special hiding spots. She isn't a huge fan of balls and mouse toys, but she LOVES the ribbon toy and can play with that forever. Several interactive play ... (Read More)sessions a day with her favorite toy will be a great way to bond with her. When she isn't playing, Squirrel's favorite place to spend her time in her foster home is a chair near a window. Squirrel wants to love her people, but sometimes she gets so excited that she's not sure how. She gets happy when her foster family gets home and enjoys a few pets, but then likes to have her space. Squirrel probably won't be a lap kitty, but she will be a great fit for someone who would like a beautiful, playful cat housemate. Because Squirrel is still learning the best way to show her love, she will need an experienced forever family who will be patient with her. Squirrel will tolerate other cats, but the kitties should have enough space to be apart when they want to be. A home with no more than one other cat would be best. Given consistent love and some positive reinforcement, Squirrel should blossom into a lovely companion. Squirrel is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. She is very ladylike, always using her litter box. Squirrel is located in Arlington, VA. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php . You may also e-mail us at info@omcrescue.org if you have any questions or would like to learn more about Squirrel. (Less)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jax is a 3 year old Maine Coon mix with a high speed, low drag kitten personality who wants to play, play, play! He is a happy and curious fellow who will make a game out of almost anything. Just as he starts playing one game, he gets distracted and runs off to the next. His foster family adores his antics. As playful as he is, he is also very affectionate. He wants to be where his people are and be the center of attention. He loves to cuddle with his foster family, reaping the rewards of a well-lived day. Jax is quite the social butterfly, making friends with everyone, including dogs and children. He enjoys the company of other ... (Read More)cats, too. Sometimes all that energy gets him in trouble with his older feline foster siblings, though, and he just can't understand why they don't want to play with him! Afterall, he's the life of the party (and confident, too!). Jax will surely brighten up his new forever home with his high spirits and loving heart. Jax is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and he has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. He is a very good boy and always uses his litter box. Jax has also been microchipped. Animal ID: Lil Moe and ScarLil Moe and Scar (male)

Maine Coon    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The two words used by their foster mom to describe Lil Moe and Scar are, 'Ridiculously Sweet'! Lil Moe and Scar are 4 ½ year-old Maine Coons mix brothers and life-long BFFs. Only Maine Coons Rescue took them in after their previous family fell on hard times and desperately needed help to make sure their beautiful boys find their new forever home. Lil Moe and Scar were purchased from a breeder as pure bred Maine Coons, but do not have official papers. Lil Moe is the go-getter of the pair. He's a slender fellow, weighing in at about 11 pounds, with a gorgeous brown and white coat. When Lil Moe isn't twirling around his foster ... (Read More)mom's legs and purring, he is off on an adventure. Lil Moe loves to explore and isn't afraid of anything. He's a playful boy, too, and loves to follow his people around. While not a lap cat, he is very affectionate. Scar is more of the strong, silent type. He is very laid back and somewhat shy, though also affectionate, like his brother. He doesn't mind being held and will sit on his person's lap when placed there. His preferred location, though, is right next to his person, shamelessly flopped over for a good belly rub. Scar is a bit beefier than his brother, at about 13 pounds, with a handsome grey and white coat. We are working on their weight, as they came to us a little under what they should be. Lil Moe and Scar must be adopted as a team. They enjoy the company of other cats, though Scar may need a longer introduction to a new kitty since he is a bit shy. Lil Moe would probably be comfortable with a doggie family member, but it is unknown if Scar would enjoy a canine friend. Lil Moe and Scar will, without a doubt, be a handsome, fun, and loving member of their new forever family. Lil Moe and Scar are neutered, up-to-date on their vaccinations, and have tested negative for FeLV/FIV. They both are also front-paw declawed. They are very tidy boys and always use their litter box. Lil Moe and Scar are located in Brick, NJ. If you are interested in adopting them, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php . Animal ID: CecilCecil (male)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Kitten

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

As the news was breaking of the horrific and senseless killing of Cecil the lion at Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, Cecil the kitten, along with 10 other kittens and the two mama cats that gave birth to them, were being pulled into rescue from an animal shelter in New Jersey. They had been brought to the shelter, together and unwanted. With the threat of euthanasia looming over their little heads, OMC! Rescue quickly stepped in to save them. Today they are safe and being cared for by their loving foster families as they anxiously await their forever homes. Cecil is a 5-month old DSH baby boy with handsome tabby markings and big round ... (Read More)eyes. His mama is a Maine Coon mix, though apparently Cecil must take after a short-haired papa. Cecil is a talkative, affectionate young man and definitely a leader in his kitten 'pride'. Not taking that leadership thing too seriously, though, Cecil is a bona fide bundle of fun. He loves to play with his feline foster brother, rough-housing and tearing around the house like a speed demon. He has a great time playing with his human foster family, too. Once he has burned up all that kitten energy, he likes to find his human to cuddle up with for a nice nap. Sometimes, though, he is just too tired and will go straight from playing to passed out on the spot! Cecil is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and he has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. He is also litter box trained. Cecil is located in Absecon, NJ. If you are interested in adopting him, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php . Animal ID: MaraMara (female)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed

Miss Mara is a 2-year old Maine Coon mix with a gorgeous brown tabby coat who was rescued from a high-kill shelter in September. When she arrived at her foster home she was quite the Little Miss Hissy Pants, frightened of everything, but not afraid to say so. What a difference a couple of months in a loving home has made, with a patient foster family to work with her. Mara now solicits attention and pets from her foster mom, and is very sweet in those moments, which are endearing, though still brief. Mara gets a bit overstimulated after too much attention and will mouth and bunny kick her foster mom before running off in a huff. She ... (Read More)was likely separated from her mama cat and siblings at a very young age and hasn't had good experiences with humans before coming into rescue, so she is still learning that being loved is a good thing. Mara loves to rest in high places and observe her surroundings, or watch the goings-on outside from a nice high window. In her foster home, she has selected the kitchen counter as her favorite safe spot, where she can see all that is going on while being well out of reach of her kitty and doggie foster siblings. She can be encouraged to move when the counters are needed for human use, but will help herself right back to her spot when the kitchen is quiet again. When Mara is in her new home and feels safe, she should easily be encouraged to lie in more convenient locations, such as a nice tall cat tree near a window. Because Mara is still learning her good kitty manners and how to trust people, she will need a forever family who will be patient with her. A quiet home with no children, dogs, or other cats will be best. Given consistent love, kindness, and some positive reinforcement, Mara should blossom into a loving young lady. Mara is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. She is very ladylike, always using her litter box. Mara is located in Absecon, NJ. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php . Animal ID: Mickey and DonaldMickey and Donald (male)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Are you wishing for a pair of handsome, affectionate, energetic, playful kitties to call your very own? Well, when you wish upon a star (or, in this case, apply to adopt from Only Maine Coons Rescue), your dreams may just come true. Mickey and Donald are father and son Maine Coon mix kitties, wearing gorgeous brown tabby coats and sweet, mischievous expressions. Son Donald is 5 years old and loves to be close to his humans, involved in whatever action is afoot. He is quite the intrepid explorer and gets excited at any opportunity to play. Once play time is finished, he is happy to lounge around and just be with his family. Papa cat ... (Read More)Mickey is estimated to be 6 or 7 years old. Being the sensible elder, he will take his time to get comfortable with a new situation, but once he feels safe, he's all in! Mickey loves to be near his humans and is the definition of 'cuddlebug'. No matter where you are, he will find a place to lounge nearby. His favorite spot in the house is lying in bed, curled up with his humans at night. Both boys love to scratch, so their new home should be well stocked with lots of proper scratching material and a good set of nail clippers. They are also extremely smart, curious cats so it is recommended that things that are not cat-friendly (small objects, breakables, chemicals, or human food) be kept secure. Mickey and Donald must be adopted as a team. They are bonded to each other so closely that even if separated for a couple hours their personalities will visibly change. They love to curl up together and clean each other, and race around the house with short interludes of play wrestle. As much as they love each other, Mickey and Donald love everyone else (2-legged or 4-legged) too, especially anyone who will play with them. They enjoy the company of other cats, children, new visitors, and may even like the company of a new doggie BFF. The boys will perfectly fit into an active household in which their new family will play with them, include them in their activities, and love them forever. Mickey and Donald are neutered, up-to-date on their vaccinations, and have tested negative for FeLV/FIV. They are very tidy boys and always use their litter box. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis, Obese

Well, hello, Big Boy! If you are looking for true gentle giant, Otto is your man. A handsome, tabby-patterned Maine Coon mix, Otto is a mature gentleman at 9 years old. Otto came into rescue from the shelter with a solid mass of fur so thick his skin couldn't be reached when you pet him. He has been sporting a fashionable lion cut for the summer, and now his hair is growing back nicely to keep him snuggly warm for the cool months ahead. A true gentleman, Otto patiently waits for his foster mom to initiate pets, then he becomes a big, happy love sponge, rewarding her with a steady stream of sweet purrs. He adores affection and loves to ... (Read More)be pet and brushed. Otto's most favorite toy ever is a 'Turbo Scratcher' which he goes after with much gusto to keep his nails and paws in great shape. It is also great exercise for him. This sweet boy does have some special needs. Otto is overweight and has developed severe arthritis. He is being treated with monthly injections and daily oral pain medication to help him feel more comfortable. Otto is a champion nap-taker, and his naps are likely more frequent due to his pain medication. He is also on special food to help him lose weight, in hopes that will alleviate some of his arthritis pain. His new family will need to be committed to making sure Otto receives the diet and medication regimen that he needs to feel his best. Otto is comfortable around his foster kitty siblings, and while a little cautious about the dogs in his foster home right now, with time he will probably accept a gentle dog as a friend.     Buffy is an adorable, 15 year old Maine Coon mix, with a medium-length brown tabby coat, pale green eyes, and awesomely-long whiskers. She is a sweet, gentle soul who is very social with her humans. She love to be talked to and will chit-chat back. Buffy is very affectionate and adores as many pets as her humans can give her. She also enjoys some occasional lap time and a nice catnip toy to play with. This sweet senior lady is looking forward to retiring into a relaxing life of leisure and love, and would prefer to be her new family's one and only kitty. Buffy is spayed, her front paws are declawed, she is up-to-date on her vaccinations, and she has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. She is also litter box trained. Buffy is located in Absecon, NJ. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php You may also e-mail us at info@omcrescue.org if you have any questions or would like to learn more about Buffy. Maine Coon Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Marilyn is around 16 years old. She was turned into a high kill shelter by her owners for jumping on the bed. She is now safe in foster care, where she lays around on the bed all day long. She is a happy social girl who enjoys being with her human. She welcomes lots of petting, chin scratches, and love. She had blood drawn and does have some kidney concerns. At this point she does not require any kind of treatment (dialysis, special food, or medication) but her kidneys do need to be watched very closely on a regular basis. She also has a grade 3 heart murmur. She does not require anything for this either, but just needs to be monitored. It ... (Read More)is recommended by my vet that she have blood drawn every 6 months to check her levels. Marilyn is spayed, negative for FeLV/FIV and has the necessary shots for her age. She gets along with other cats and doesn't seem to mind the dogs; she just stays away from them. It is recommended that Marilyn live in a quiet home where she will not be stressed. Stress could affect her kidneys and heart. She is really a very sweet girl who just wants to be near you wherever you are in the home. Marilyn is located in Blairstown, NJ Please fill out an adoption application on our web site www.omcrescue.org. (Less)
