Joy and Rosy are two-year old BFFs that are looking for a forever family who will adopt them together. They were taken in by a loving caregiver after she found them living in her backyard, likely born as strays. Joy and Rosy are happy and healthy girls, loving the indoor life and having a human to see to their every desire. Joy is a gorgeous Maine Coon mix with a fluffy, dilute calico coat. She is a sweet, calm little girl. Joy is shy with new people at first, then once she feels comfortable, she is super affectionate and loves to play. She also loves to be with her best pal, Rosy. They can often be found lying together, enjoying a ... (Read More)nice sun puddle in a warm and cozy room. Rosy likes to wear her pretty black hair short, tastefully adorned with white accessories. Rosy is also an extremely sweet and calm girl. She warms up to people a little more quickly than Joy and will adapt to her new home in no time. Joy and Rosy can still get scared now and then, and will take a bit of time to get used to their new home and humans. They will need an extra special family willing to take the time to work with them, providing them lots of love and patience while they get familiar with their new surroundings. Once they've settled in, Joy and Rosy will be beautiful, fun, and loving members of their new family. Joy and Rosy enjoy the company of other cats. It is not known if they would enjoy the company of a canine friend. Joy and Rosy are is spayed, up-to-date on their vaccinations, and have tested negative for FIV/FeLV. They are also microchipped. Animal ID: TinselTinsel (female)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Tinsel is a sweet 3-year old Maine Coon mix with a medium-length black coat, big fluffy feet that have a hint of brown undertones, and big round eyes highlighted with just a splash of green. When she sits tall with her tail wrapped delicately around her feet, she is simply beautiful. As gorgeous as Tinsel is, she is a very down-to-earth girl. Though very shy, she is extremely sweet, playful, and a little silly. She loves pets, especially on her head and neck, and will happily sit next to her person making biscuits on a nice fluffy blanket or plush cat bed. She enjoys interactive play with a wand toy, and will toss around her toy mice ... (Read More)and crinkle ball when playing alone. During playtime, she will flop over hard and wiggle around on her back near her human, and even enjoys a little belly rub. She also likes a good brushing to keep her gorgeous coat shiny and soft. Tinsel is very timid and spooks easily. She will need a special family who will be patient with her and help her to get used to her new surroundings, which may take a few months. While she is settling in, she does enjoy her new humans' company and appreciates pets, even in her hiding spot. Tinsel would adjust most quickly and be happiest in a quiet home with just her humans as her best pals. She appears to be fearful of other cats, but may not mind a small, easy-going, cat-friendly dog. Tinsel is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. She is litter box trained and is quite dedicated to assuring every deposit is thoroughly buried, sometimes resulting in well-sculpted piles of litter to one side in the box. The builders of the Great Pyramids have nothing on her! A large, uncovered box is recommended so as not to squelch her creative architectural spirit. Tinsel is located in Reston, VA. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php . You may also e-mail us at info@omcrescue.org if you have any questions or would like to learn more about Tinsel. (Less)

Animal ID: SquirrelSquirrel (female)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Squirrel is a 2-year old Maine Coon mix with a gorgeous brown tabby coat and whiskers a mile long! Squirrel was brought into rescue from a shelter in Southern Maryland in October, and she was not entirely certain that humans were a good thing. With several months in the loving care of her foster family, Squirrel is learning that humans can be pretty nice and she is now ready to become part of a family of her very own. Squirrel is an active girl who likes to explore and find her own special hiding spots. She isn't a huge fan of balls and mouse toys, but she LOVES the ribbon toy and can play with that forever. Several interactive play ... (Read More)sessions a day with her favorite toy will be a great way to bond with her. When she isn't playing, Squirrel's favorite place to spend her time in her foster home is a chair near a window. Squirrel wants to love her people, but sometimes she gets so excited that she's not sure how. She gets happy when her foster family gets home and enjoys a few pets, but then likes to have her space. Squirrel probably won't be a lap kitty, but she will be a great fit for someone who would like a beautiful, playful cat housemate. Because Squirrel is still learning the best way to show her love, she will need an experienced forever family who will be patient with her. Squirrel will tolerate other cats, but the kitties should have enough space to be apart when they want to be. A home with no more than one other cat would be best. Given consistent love and some positive reinforcement, Squirrel should blossom into a lovely companion. Squirrel is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. She is very ladylike, always using her litter box. Squirrel is located in Arlington, VA. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php . You may also e-mail us at info@omcrescue.org if you have any questions or would like to learn more about Squirrel. (Less)

Animal ID: MaraMara (female)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed

Miss Mara is a 2-year old Maine Coon mix with a gorgeous brown tabby coat who was rescued from a high-kill shelter in September. When she arrived at her foster home she was quite the Little Miss Hissy Pants, frightened of everything, but not afraid to say so. What a difference a couple of months in a loving home has made, with a patient foster family to work with her. Mara now solicits attention and pets from her foster mom, and is very sweet in those moments, which are endearing, though still brief. Mara gets a bit overstimulated after too much attention and will mouth and bunny kick her foster mom before running off in a huff. She ... (Read More)was likely separated from her mama cat and siblings at a very young age and hasn't had good experiences with humans before coming into rescue, so she is still learning that being loved is a good thing. Mara loves to rest in high places and observe her surroundings, or watch the goings-on outside from a nice high window. In her foster home, she has selected the kitchen counter as her favorite safe spot, where she can see all that is going on while being well out of reach of her kitty and doggie foster siblings. She can be encouraged to move when the counters are needed for human use, but will help herself right back to her spot when the kitchen is quiet again. When Mara is in her new home and feels safe, she should easily be encouraged to lie in more convenient locations, such as a nice tall cat tree near a window. Because Mara is still learning her good kitty manners and how to trust people, she will need a forever family who will be patient with her. A quiet home with no children, dogs, or other cats will be best. Given consistent love, kindness, and some positive reinforcement, Mara should blossom into a loving young lady. Mara is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. She is very ladylike, always using her litter box. Mara is located in Absecon, NJ. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php . Animal ID: OttoOtto (male)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis, Obese

Well, hello, Big Boy! If you are looking for true gentle giant, Otto is your man. A handsome, tabby-patterned Maine Coon mix, Otto is a mature gentleman at 9 years old. Otto came into rescue from the shelter with a solid mass of fur so thick his skin couldn't be reached when you pet him. He has been sporting a fashionable lion cut for the summer, and now his hair is growing back nicely to keep him snuggly warm for the cool months ahead. A true gentleman, Otto patiently waits for his foster mom to initiate pets, then he becomes a big, happy love sponge, rewarding her with a steady stream of sweet purrs. He adores affection and loves to ... (Read More)be pet and brushed. Otto's most favorite toy ever is a 'Turbo Scratcher' which he goes after with much gusto to keep his nails and paws in great shape. It is also great exercise for him. This sweet boy does have some special needs. Otto is overweight and has developed severe arthritis. He is being treated with monthly injections and daily oral pain medication to help him feel more comfortable. Otto is a champion nap-taker, and his naps are likely more frequent due to his pain medication. He is also on special food to help him lose weight, in hopes that will alleviate some of his arthritis pain. His new family will need to be committed to making sure Otto receives the diet and medication regimen that he needs to feel his best. Otto is comfortable around his foster kitty siblings, and while a little cautious about the dogs in his foster home right now, with time he will probably accept a gentle dog as a friend. Otto is neutered, he is up-to-date on his vaccinations, and he has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. He is also litter box trained. Otto is located in Absecon, NJ. If you are interested in adopting him, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php . Animal ID: BuffyBuffy (female)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Buffy is an adorable, 15 year old Maine Coon mix, with a medium-length brown tabby coat, pale green eyes, and awesomely-long whiskers. She is a sweet, gentle soul who is very social with her humans. She love to be talked to and will chit-chat back. Buffy is very affectionate and adores as many pets as her humans can give her. She also enjoys some occasional lap time and a nice catnip toy to play with. This sweet senior lady is looking forward to retiring into a relaxing life of leisure and love, and would prefer to be her new family's one and only kitty. The poor girl was bullied by a cat in her former home, so she is not eager to ... (Read More)make friends with other kitties.
