Animal ID: SocratesSocrates (male)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The great philosopher, Socrates, is quoted, 'Thou shouldst eat to live; not live to eat'. Well, that was all fine and good for a well-fed philosopher, but poor Socrates, the cat, had done neither for a very long time. Rescued on the very day he was to meet his end at the shelter, Socrates came to Only Maine Coons Rescue just skin and bones. Today, Socrates has filled out nicely, is healthy, and continues to LOVE to eat! In fact, he is quite chatty when it is feeding time letting his foster mom know that it is time to eat, 'RIGHT MEOW!' Socrates is a serious lap cat that loves to be petted and have his head and those seriously poofy ... (Read More)Maine Coon-esque cheeks rubbed. The vet estimates he is about 7+ years old. Socrates has a beautiful classic brown tabby/white coat and a very wise expression (hence his name). Socrates would prefer to be the one and only furry love of your life, but he would do fine with another cat. He will feel more comfortable in a home with no dogs. Socrates is neutered, declawed, and up-to-date on his vaccinations, and he has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. He is also litter box trained and wants to use clay litter. Because he was declawed, the sand litter hurts his paws. Socrates is located in Absecon, NJ. If you are interested in adopting him, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php You may also e-mail us at info@omcrescue.org if you have any questions or would like to learn more about Socrates. Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I need to re-home a Maine Coon cat as an 'only pet.' Loki is approximately a 4-year-old Maine Coon mix I rescued from a shelter. My husband and I have worked very hard to integrate him with our other three cats, but it's just not working out. We feel he would be much happier and better off as the only pet in a household...King of the Castle, if you will. We are sure this is due to him not being socialized with other cats at a young age, being in a crowded shelter, and moved on a constant basis before I adopted him. He is very sweet and loving to us; just not to our other cats. He loves ear and chin scratches, belly rubs, and looking out the ... (Read More)window from his cat seat. He is neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and tested negative on his FeLv/FIV test. He is an indoor-only cat and litter trained. He has his claws, but he uses a cat post covered with sisal rope (his favorite). For more info, please email Lisa at lsevier2009@comcast.net or call 302-743-4638. Location is Pennsauken, NJ. Again, PLEASE, no other pets, as it defeats the purpose of re-homing him. Thanks! (Less)

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sven is around 3 years old. He was found wondering around outside. A nice family managed to bring him inside and notified us to help. He took to inside life pretty easily, which leads us to believe he was once a inside cat. He likes to cuddle in bed and will follow you around as you go about your day. He does get into a little bit of mischief while jumping up on things and knocking stuff over, but he just wants to be sure you are paying enough attention to him. He is also very chatty. Sven has a ear notch, which we are guessing is because he was outdoors for a while and possible trapped/neutered/returned. Sven is FRONT PAW DELAWED, ... She is Mom to Birdie, Omaha, Jezza, Cob Web, Tori. Sookie will need time to warm up once she comes into your home.     Meet Vincent, a strikingly handsome Maine Coon mix who came to us from Animal Care & Control of NYC. At 2 years of age, this brown tabby boy is affectionate and loves to be petted and picked up. He will actually follow you around, talking to you and begging for attention! Vincent also loves to give headbutts and get kisses! However, he can get a little feisty if overstimulated, so he will need an experienced owner who can handle his occasional moodiness - someone who can learn his triggers and steer clear of them. Maine Coon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mattie is around 5 years old. She was rescued from a very high kill NY shelter. She immediately adjusted into her foster home, by laying on the bed and looking around. She was a little moody from her shelter/abandonment situation, so we allowed her time to decompress. While she lives and tolerates other cats, we learned that all she really want to do is lay by her human ( preferably by their feet) and enjoy a good scratch and massage. She will spend the whole day laying by you and sleep with you at night. Mattie is pretty quiet in her foster home and does not make a fuss. She moves around without a sound and just hangs out watching ... (Read More)whatever is going on. There is a dog in her foster home. She does not interact with the dog at all, and just minds her business. Mattie has horns on her paws. All that needs to be done with them is to clip them, the same as if you were clipping her regular nails. Mattie is spayed and up to date with her vaccines. She uses the litter box. She tolerates and can live with other cats, but would be happiest in a quiet home by herself. She would not make a good companion for another cat, but would make a great companion for a human.
